OUR MISSION
Fuel Consumption Reduction Systems for Merchant Ships
We aim to use innovative thinking and design to deliver new products to reduce the impact of merchant ship operations on our planet. Less hydro carbon fuel burned means lower carbon emissions.
Armada Technologies has developed a largely passive “air lubrication system” to significantly reduce merchant ship fuel consumption.

Our Journey So Far
2020
ARMADA TECHNOLOGIES FOUNDED
Work started in 2020, supported by a T-Trig 20 grant from the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT).
2021
PROOF OF CONCEPT
In April 2021, we proved our concept Air Lubrication System (ALS) works during a two week experimentation program using Newcastle University’s Emerson Cavitation tunnel.
Armada are now working with a number of universities, technology companies, merchant vessel operators and financiers in the UK, Europe and the US together with the DfT to continue development of our ALS and install it on a demonstrator vessel in mid 2023.
2021
INNOVATION AWARD
Armada Technologies awarded T-TRIG award for outstanding innovation.
2022
GRANT FUNDING
Armada awarded T-TRIG grant funding for 2nd year in a row.
2022
FIRST INSTITUTIONAL INVESTMENT
Armada closes pre-seed fund raising round with Oracle VC acting as lead investor.
AWARD WINNING INNOVATION
In November 2021 Armada Technology Limited won the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT) CSA award for outstanding innovation. Professor Sarah Sharples, DfT chief scientist advisor, talks about the award and our innovation in the video below.
